Steve More is an Edinburgh based artist working with materials commonly found in the urban environment. Torn down billposters, wood and concrete are typical of the mediums he uses
to explore our attitudes toward time and place in
the digital age. He employs a minimalist aesthetic using techniques such as abrasion and décollage
to create works that occupy a space between painting and sculpture.
More began as a graffiti artist in the mid 1980’s before switching to studio-based work in 2005.
He cites his 20 years experience of working in the urban vernacular as formative to his current work. Born in Edinburgh, 1971, More has also lived in Auckland and London, and exhibited in cities such as San Francisco, Amsterdam, London and Paris.
